Towncrier

Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 September 2026

These terms cover your use of Towncrier, operated by Wizewerx Ltd. By creating an account you agree to them.

The service

Towncrier lets you publish in-app announcements, banners and feedback forms to your own product through a script tag. You create an app, list the domains allowed to display your content, and install the tag.

Your account

  • You are responsible for what is published from your account.
  • You must only add domains you control as allowed origins.
  • Keep your API keys private. Anyone holding a key can act as you.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you publish through Towncrier. You grant us only the licence needed to store it and serve it to your users. You are responsible for it being lawful, and for having the right to show it to the people who see it.

Acceptable use

You may not use Towncrier to:

  • Publish unlawful, deceptive or malicious content.
  • Impersonate another person or organisation.
  • Inject content into a site you do not control.
  • Attempt to break, overload or circumvent the service or its limits.

Your users' data

Where the widget handles data about your end users, you are the controller and we are the processor. You are responsible for having a lawful basis and for telling your users that Towncrier is in use. See the Privacy Policy.

Availability

Towncrier is provided as is. We do not currently offer a uptime guarantee or service credits. We will not knowingly break your installation without warning, but this is a new product and you should judge it on that basis.

Price and payment

Towncrier is free while it is in its current stage. Paid plans are coming. If we introduce a charge we will tell existing accounts before it applies to them, and you will be able to decline and stop using the service rather than be billed by default.

Ending it

You can stop using Towncrier at any time by removing the script tag and deleting your account. We may suspend an account that breaks the acceptable use terms above, and we will say why.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, which cannot be limited in law.

Before launch — unresolvedThe liability cap, governing-law and jurisdiction clause, refund position once billing exists, and the notice period for terms changes are not settled. A lawyer should see this page before Towncrier takes money.
